Crafty Angels Weekly Challenge - Week 10 "Anything But a Card!"

This week over on the Crafty Angels Weekly Challenge Blog the theme has been set by Sandie and she wanted us to make...."Anything but a card". Having already made boxes etc I decided to tackle the mammouth task of making an Advent Calendar. Armed with Camilla's instruction in the Magnolia Ink magazine I set to work, cutting and scoring all the 24 boxes (you can cheat and make one with match boxes...) and then of course there is all the construction and decoration....anyway here it is...

The Top
The papers I used on the whole project were by Making Memories they were in a pad designed to be used with The Slice. I inked them with Vintage Photo distress inks added some paper roses by Wild Orchid Crafts with foilage using my Martha Stewart "Branch" punch, one of the Xmas Magnolia's and a sentiment by Teresa Collins.

Side View One
More of the same papers plus a couple more of the new Xmas Magnolia stamps the little "Dec 25" stamp is by Studio G. To create the drawer handles I used my Cropadile to punch two holes in each drawer and added a couple of eyelets and then used some string to create the pull.

Side View Two
Again more Xmas Magnolia's, I have added Flowersoft in Christmas Green & Shamrock Green (mixed together) to the wreath, and the sentiment is by Catslife Press, with more paper roses.

Side View Three
Again, more Xmas Magnolia's with snowflakes using my Martha Stewart punch.

Side View Four
I used another Tilda from the Xmas collection and also the "DO NOT OPEN" is by Catslife Press, and the "Gifts Checklist" is by Teresa Collins.

I am so pleased that I made this, and it is being kept for ME....I just cannot bear to part with it...so Georgia & David are going to fill it for me...yay

Be sure to pop on over to the Crafty Angels Blog to see what the other DT members came up with. Many of the Xmas Magnolia collection can be found in the store HERE.

Stuff I made at MKScrappers August Crop.....

I actually managed to go to the August MKScrappers crop on Sunday....the first time I had been able to make one of the crops THIS YEAR....I can hardly believe it. They just seemed to always be on when I was either away or sick or David had to work that weekend. So I had no photos printed, and I didn't want to take the same old photos that I shuffled around on the last time I was cropping....so I decided to make something else.....

I started with an Xmas card, using on of the second set of Miss Anya stamps by The Greeting Farm, coloured with my Copics. I also used some Stickles glitter glue on the fur of her coat and boots....a girl needs some sparkle. The papers are all October Afternoon "Good Cheer" from an 8x8 pad I got from The Craft Emporium...Thanks Lynn. Finally I added some ribbon from my stash, a couple of heart pins and a sentiment by Craftwork Cards (I looove 'em).

Next I made a Milk Carton project. I paid and downloaded from Becky (www.inkingidaho.blogspot.com) using papers by Creative Imaginations....I love the fruity theme. We did have a fit of hysterics while I was making this though....The stickers that came with the kit had a sticker containing the word "Spunk"....now all the Brits will know this has a different meaning here than in the US.....so you can image the laughter than this bought. If you don't know the UK meaning....either email me or ask a friend from the UK...be warned it is a little rude (for those with a delicate demeanor).

So anyway, this Milk Carton holder can have gifts put into each of the cartons....I plan on putting some fruity toiletries and sweets into this one.

Finally I decided that after almost 2 years of hanging around the floor of my craft room, or in the loft, that this Advent Calender box that I got from B&Q in the sale back in 2007 needed to be decorated....so I took a couple of sheets of Making Memories "FaLaLaLaLa" paper and cut squares out to cover the drawer fronts, and then added some die-cut numbers that I got earlier this year from www.shabbychiccrafts.blogspot.com . I had to cut a couple of them down to make them fit....but overall I am pleased (as was Georgia). It is not quite finished as I am making a wreath with my Martha Stewart "Branch" punch to go on the big door....
I was really pleased to have been so productive and finished a project that had been hanging around a while, one new one, and a start to my Xmas cards....2 xmas cards down....unsure of how many to go....LOL.

Hope your day is looking better than mine.....
