Saturated Canary Challenge...Alter It!!

This week over on the Saturated Canary Challenge Blog we have a new Alter It Challenge. The title is pretty self explanatory...but just in case...we want you to Alter something...

I decided to alter this plain kraft file folder...

And here is how it turned out...
The image is a Saturated Canary one called Starla, which has been coloured with Copics using the following colours...
Skin - E000/E00/E11/R20
Hair - E15/E17/E18/E19
Eyes - B21/B66
Lips - R20/R21/R22
Clothing - C5/C7/C9/YG01/R30/R32
The papers and stickers are all My Minds Eye Find Your Wings & Fly - Up and Away, and I have added some doilies, a mustache paper clip, mustache die-cuts, a Polaroid frame around the image,a tag and seam binding. To finish off I sprayed the whole thing with Tattered Angels Pearl Glimmer Mist.

I am pretty please with the results and Georgia is over the moon...she has claimed it as her own...

Be sure to hop on over and see what other items the DT have altered...

Saturated Canary Challenge - Anything Goes!

So, I am a little late posting this as the challenge started last week...

The challenge theme is Anything Goes, so I made a corner book mark with the Grey Tie/Under Contract stamp set which I coloured with Copics using the following colours...
Skin - E000/E00/E11/R20
Eyes - B21/B66
Hair - E23/E25/E27
Others - C0/C1/C2/C5/C7
I used Bazzill black and red cardstock and papers by Lily Bee Designs This & That. I added a Jenni Bowlin Bingo Card, some MME letters, a heart pin and a bit of ribbon.

Check out the challenge...it has one more week to run...

Home Decor...

So here is the little wooden tray I was talking about on Friday. I believe it came with little wooden Xmas embellishments in it from QVC about 5-6 years ago...as I said the embellishments have been given away long ago, but I kept the little tray...

I have added Papermania print papers to each of the rectangles and then added pics, stickers, diecuts etc to the inside of each rectangle. I added some bunting made with twine and washi tape and also some "potty people" style ribbon that I got in Hobbycraft.
I love this little tray and it sits in my recently semi tidied craft room...in a little corner that has a few of my cards/projects displayed...

Prima Mixed Media Doll Stamp...

Tracy @ Dies to Die For recently took delivery of the Prima Mixed Media Doll Stamps....and I was lucky enough to find one in the my DT pack....You can find here HERE. I stamped her onto Craftwork Cards Digital Cardstock with a Tuxedo Black Memento Ink pad and coloured her skin and hair with Copics using the following colours...
Skin - E000/E00/E11/R20
Hair - 100/C3
I then stamped her again onto patterned paper from the Teresa Collins Now & Then 6x6 paper pad. I used a luggage tag from any stationery shop and added the papers from the pad, together with a doily and some gorgeous lace ribbon and seam binding and a flower. The words have been cut from one of the sheets of paper in the pad.

I have found a fab Pinterest board showing so many fab examples with this stamp...will definitely be making some more.

Cheeky Geeky Corner Bookmark!

I have a few birthdays coming up for Georgia's school friends and like to keep a stock of cute corner bookmarks to add to their birthday cards...so here is the latest.

I have used a cute stamp from The Greeting Farm called Cheeky Geeky. She is stamped onto Craftwork Cards Digital Cardstock using Momento Ink in Tuxedo Black, and coloured with Copics.

I have used up scraps to make the bookmark the biggest piece you need is the cardstock measuring 4x4 inches. They are a great way to use up scraps and the kids love them...I have lost count of the number I have made and then given to my daughters friends for their birthdays. This time I have used scaps of red cardstock and scraps of My Minds Eye Lost & Found 3 - Ruby. Embellished with some seam binding, a sticker and a sentiment made with a Dymo style machine.

If you want instructions leave a comment with your email address and I will send you them.

Cute Card Thursday - So Charming!

This week over on the Cute Card Thursday Challenge blog a new challenge is up....we want to see your creations featuring a charm...

I decided to decorate a little book that I got from Paperchase for the princely sum of £1.50. I have added a Polaroid die-cut from using a Lil' Inker Designs die...HERE. I have added the "i {heart} {moustache}" with AC Thickers, a SU heart punch and a moustache die-cut that I bought from Etsy. The "Smile" and "Seriously?" are both from the Pink Paislee Portfolio stamp set, and I have added some Washi tape, a Typo "crap" paperclip and a pair of scissors charm attached with twine.

Be sure to check out our challenge to see what the rest of the DT made...and also join in for a chance to win this weeks prize.

December Daily Daybook...

So every year come November I have all these plans to join in with either December Daily or Shimelle's Journal my Christmas....and for the last couple of years I have completely failed to be prepared...

This year I have been hooked on making my own Daybooks...so decided to prepare ahead and made one for December...

As always I have made the cover from Kraft cardstock and added acetate (this one is by Fancy Pants). I also added some stickers and MME washi tape, and a paperclip.
Here is a little peek inside...the papers are all Teresa Collins Christmas Cottage, and I have added stickers from the same collection and more of the MME Christmas washi tape. When I add the pics etc I have some flair badges and other bits to go in too...
Let's see in January 2013 how successful I was keeping this going...LOL

Sassafras Lass Daybook...

If you are a regular here on my blog you will have noticed I have fallen in love with the Amy Tangerine Daybook, I decided that I wanted to have a go at making my own....after all that is how Amy came up with the idea of the books...she made one with scraps left over from a demo she was doing at CHA... So here are some step by step instructions of how I make them...
So the first step is to make a cover. I use Bazzill Kraft cardstock and a piece of overlay/acetate. This book measures 7.5 x 5.5 inches. The overlay/acetate measures 5.5 inches deep and is very slighty shorter that the cover so that it doesn't hang over.
The inside pages are made from double sided papers...if they are a little thicker than paper that is better as it gives the pages more support. Cut them in a variety of sizes smaller than your cover. As you can see I have included some envelopes in my book, plus used some decorative edges to the pages...plus some washi tape and stickers.
More of the inside pages...
More of the inside pages, envelopes and stickers...

Now back to decorating the cover. I added some washi tape to the inside and sticker that goes with the paper range I used. I stuck the sticker over the busy overlay/acetate on the front so that it created a place to put the title of the album at a later date.
The inside of the cover is decorated with more washi tape and another sticker.
Now The the cover and insides are ready I added the clips to hold all the pages in place ready to make the holes for hand sewing the book together.
As you can see in the picture I have added holes down the centre fold of the album using an embroidery needle and foam mat.
When I start sewing from the second hole down and then back one hole and forward two holes....it means you over sew, but it makes the binding nice and strong.
More of the sewing...
A close up of the sewing.
Further down and you can get more of an idea...
Sewing all done, and as you can see you get a neat(ish) sewn line down the centre of the daybook.
Here is the sewing from the outside...
I hope this explains everything, and inspires a few of you to have a go at your own book. It is a great way to use up all the pieces of patterned paper you have laying around. Also it is a great saver as the Amy Tangerine Books cost between £6.99-£9.99, and I have estimated that this book cost me about £4 to make and it is utterly unique. If you are a cardmaker with mainly 6x6 pads laying around then don't think you can't have a go at this...I have made another album that is just 6.5 x 4.5 inches and all the pages inside are made from a 6x6 paper pad.

And there's more...

I just cannot seem to stop myself making these Daybook...

For this one I dug out the Bo Bunny Mamarazzi papers...I just love the camera these of these papers....I am a self confessed Camera addict....I have 4 cameras, plus the camera on my iPhone....

This time I have made a cover using Craftwork Cards Ritzy cardstock in Ice Cream to which I have added some Hambly Studios camera overlay (remember if you like these overlays that Hambly are no longer in business....so if you want them, buy them when you see them!)
Inside the cover I added some Prima filmstrip decorative tape (had it for years) and added some "photo" inspired words with my Dymo.
Here are pictures of the inside pages...
I have also added a couple of coin envelopes to the centre...
Hope you managed to make it through another Daybook....I promise there will be something different tomorrow and Thursday...and then another Daybook on Friday.
